Designer: Becky Nelson Dahl
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work

Location: San Diego, California
Packaging Contents: Vodka
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Glass bottle

We Like Real.

Frankly’s mission is to provide the world with a vodka made from 100% real, organic ingredients for people who are real.

By creating a classic logotype free of lavish embellishments or hidden design elements, we tapped into this sense of transparency. Extra straightforward copy and spontaneously strewn ingredients on the packaging add to the honesty the brand stands for.

It brings the idea of organic vodka to the masses — not because it’s exclusive or fancy or high class, but because real, organic ingredients taste better than flavorings or added sugar or other additives.

Frankly is off to a great start in Austin, Texas & we can’t wait to see this brand EXPLODE!!

Packaging Contents: Ice-Cream
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Plastic
Printing Process: Screen printing

GROM, an Italian-based brand was recently acquired by the multinational Unilever and this gave an international breath to the tender and made it very stimulating.

The strategy following the acquisition was to expand the business of the brand by planning its entry into the large-scale retail trade. Hence the need to adjust the graphic identity and the communication image with particular attention to the packaged product, gelato in a pint first, then ghiacciolo on a stick.

The greatest effort was to translate the whole consolidated range of values of the brand into a broader but always coherent logic. The pivot on which the whole design revolves is the obsessive attention that the founders, still in the management of the company, have always had and continue to have in the selection and processing of raw materials; a source of pride. So much delicacy was needed to transpose that so convinced approach also in the GDO project.

The first sensitive issue to be addressed was the revision of the brand. It was essentially a conservative intervention which has affected the architecture of the brand, which has been recomposed seeking greater harmony, more effective balance and formal rigor.

minimalist has developed a brand identity and created package design for a newly launched cosmetic brand Flamel MD.

Flamel MD is originated and inspired from French alchemist Nicholas Flamel. Flamel MD was able to make its own 'Alche-medic' solution available to the skin solution.

By using Nicolas Flamel’s historical period as our motif, we have devised a Gothic font that symbolizes the medieval times of the 14th century while also capturing our identity.

The brand identity is devised by using a round flask to symbolize alchemist’s research and by using three solutions originating from the meaning of the moon. It symbolizes the brand’s birth from the vigor of alchemists and Flamel.

Kakau Worship is an Athens-based chocolate brand, sparked by its founder’s lifetime experience in Central and South America in 2014. His 3-year stay in the exotic cities of Guatemala and Peru, weaned him on some of the most ancient and pure chocolate-making processes, bringing us today before a series of organic chocolate products; bars, nibs, couverture and delicious chocolate crafts and flavors.

Design: 2 Ninety-Two (兩個 九二)
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Location: China
Packaging Contents: Tea, food, coffee, drinks
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paper box
Printing Process: 4 colour printing

LIDA TEA brand packaging series is divided into 5 categories (logo for customers)

The overall design visual style is in the form of “simple, general, abstract” to match the products of different people. Reflecting the brand positioning of “fashion, modernity, petty bourgeoisie”

1. Office tea with "newspaper" as a visual element
The symbol extracts "office supplies" and uses the commonly used "ruler tools" to represent each day. Incorporating different colors, giving people a different visual experience.

2. Women's tea with "flowers" as a visual element
A woman sways in the wind like a "flower", a delicate petal, a graceful gesture. Like a slim fairy dancing, Elegant and graceful.

3. Travel tea with "boat" as a visual element
Travel is like a "boat" free in the sea, with a quiet heart and non-stop footsteps, I kept meeting, kept thinking, and kept updating my memory.

4. Children's tea with "Star River" as a visual element
The child is like a vast "Xinghe". Those twinkling stars are like a bright eye. There are so many illusions that I will continue to explore and discover in the future.

5. Elder tea with "mountain peak" as a visual element
The old man is like a majestic "mountain peak". The character of the mountain is strong, not afraid of any pressure. However, it is plain and kind, and the style is gentle, handsome and tender.

To sum up the illustrator style will give people a feeling of "artistic atmosphere." Like painting and not painting, it always gives people a kind of "squeaky" strength. Because of this kind of "squeaky" strength, it gives a different visual experience.

Die Hard - Power Ahead

Design: Longo Designs
Illustrator: Justin Maller
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: Sears
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Packaging Contents: Automotive, Outdoor, Battery, Chargers
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paper, cardboard, labels
Printing Process: Flexography, Screen Printing

Last year, I got a request to work on a new presentation deck for Sear’s DieHard® brand. They needed a pitch deck to help promote some new ideas for the brand. The project quickly grew into a full flown rebrand as we discovered there was so much we can do to enhance the brand and evolve it to something totally exciting and electrifying.

Through discovery, research and brand archetypes, we found some solid foundations to build the new brand. DieHard® was expanding to products beyond automotive, so we targeted the “Mavericks” who love technology, adventure and confidence. Our new mantra: “Powerful, determined, persistent, dependable, authentic.”

The brand has some incredible longevity, with a very established wordmark. There was no need to mess with it. It has recognized equity that spans generations. So we built everything around that pillar, completely reinvigorating the entire brand. From brand guidelines, packaging, point of purchase to in-store merchandising. The highlight for me is the first ever “secondary badge” called the D-Badge. The badge represents the “Power Ahead” tagline, with an energetic shard intersecting through the Diehard® D.

Then we created the “Breakthrough Graphic” as an intense vision of “power” from a central core. I asked Justin Maller to join our team and execute this graphic to reinforce our brand positioning. It reflects the premium performance of the DieHard® offering.

Americans have trusted Diehard® to deliver exceptional performance and reliable products for over 50 years. I hope we have helped recharge the brand to reach a faster-moving target who is determined and confident and embodies a “Diehard” approach to life.

Photographers: D. Lindenlaub Photography, Kim Jay Photography
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: Miiko Skin Co.
Location: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Packaging Contents: Skin Care
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Glass
Printing Process: Digital

Miiko Skin Co. is a natural skincare product line focusing on using simple ingredients that are sourced from local suppliers in British Columbia. Founded by Kimiko Foster who holds a double major in Anthropology and Environmental Studies, she wanted to promote sustainable lifestyles effectively after she began buying locally, up-cycling, and making all of her own products - which is how Miiko Skin Co. was born.

Kimko came to Caribou Creative for new packaging after the brand had outgrown its current look and feel. By stripping away the white label and moving over to clear we were able to let the UV light protected recycled glass bottles to shine through as a contemporary design element. I broke apart the current logo to allow for more space while still promoting the well recognized hummingbird as the focal aspect of their brand. A subtle nod to her Japanese roots, we included brush strokes as a background element to differentiate the product lines.

Location: Mumbai, India
Packaging Contents: Playing Cards
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paper
Printing Process: Foil Stamping | Offset Printing

Every Diwali, Wife (a young creative and brand management agency), sends out something special to their clients to celebrate the biggest Indian festival. This is something Wife takes great pride in because whatever has ever been gifted has always generated excitement and appreciation alike. As a consequence, with great pride comes great obsession with giving memorable gifts, an obsession that led to the conception of this gifting masterpiece.

To understand what the gift would be, we had to first come up with a list of all those things that made Diwali feel like, well, Diwali. From this list emerged the enemy of Diwali night itself, an enemy that hid right under our noses this whole time. That enemy was the bland and life-threateningly boring pack of playing cards, core to the culture of Diwali. These cards have forever haunted our Diwali nights with their pale traditional designs and low-quality paper.

Wife decided that something had to be done, this foe had to be vanquished and that our Diwali game of cards had to be as colourful as good old Diwali itself. So we set out to forge a weapon that would finally vanquish our evil foe, the Wife’s Epic Diwali deck of cards. After all, Playing Cards on Diwali is significant and core to the culture of India. And on the other hand, Lord Ram coming back home after 14 years of exile was exactly why Diwali was celebrated in the first place. Hence, the Ramayan Playing Cards were almost a match made in mythological heaven.
